A German submarine, the U-571 has been damaged inside the Atlantic and has called in support of a rescue boat to bring mechanics, food, and an adequate amount of equipment to develop it going. The U-571 has on it, to the same extent all German U boats carry out, the enigma code instrument. The US needs this so they can translate the German codes in so doing changing the balance of the Atlantic war.

The Americans decide to disguise their vessel like a German submarine, board the U-571 being German mechanics, capture the Germans and the enigma, after that sink the U-571 so once the rescue boat arrives, it will undergo assumed with the intention of the submarine was damaged so unmanageably, it sank.

McConaughey, Harvey Keitel and a small amount of other members of Paxton’s crew aboard the U-571. All goes well while they capture the crew and the enigma. Exactly like McConaughey, Keitel and a small amount of others are almost to position the charges to blow the boat up, an additional German U boat (probably the rescue boat) arrives and blows up and sinks Paxton’s ship.

McConaughey and the a small amount of crew members he has left, progress inside the U-571 figure out a few of the controls, (one of his crew can talk and read German) and next torpedo and sink the German rescue boat.

They re-emerge to find out if nearby are some survivors from Paxton’s submarine. They locate one of their men and a German seaman. The German seaman turns out to be situated the Captain of the U-571 but they don’t know that.
They exhaust the next day or so demanding to put back together the submarine with decent old American creativity and in fact induce it going. They just maintain one torpedo.

While they are bearing towards allied territory they stumble upon a German destroyer. The Germans of course think with the intention of it is the U-571 and dispatch a rescue boat to approach board it. McConaughey knows they will ensue found out as soon as they board so he commands his men to blow up the destroyers broadcasting tower so the Germans can’t notify anybody what’s going on.

McConaughey next commands the submarine to proceed down to 150 meters which is almost unheard of, especially representing a submarine within such poor condition. Keitel, acting a tiny like Scotty from Star Trek, tells him that the boat can’t deal with it and will come about crushed. The destroyer drops depth charges and almost destroys the submarine. For certain reason, the Germans don’t discontinue and keep dropping the charges. Turns out with the purpose of the German Captain on board is drumming their location off the wall of the submarine featuring in Morse code to the German destroyer.

They at this time proceed down to 200 meters and the charges cease. They station their single lasting torpedo and attack the destroyer blowing it up featuring in spectacular style.

There is not much left of the U-571 so they emerge and walk on a life raft. A US seaplane comes to rescue them and the enigma device.
