Blair Witch 3 Coming?

The success of Paranormal Activity has ignited the interest of the original indie film makers that created THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. The Toronto Star spoke with THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT co-director Eduardo Sanchez and he revealed that both he and fellow co-director Daniel Myrick are preparing THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT 3.

They are currently at a point where they are ready to do a BLAIR WITCH 3. They will also share the writing and directing. It will pick up where the original left off. (They will be pretending as if Blair Witch 2 never existed). To find inspiration the two co-directors spent a half hour driving through their original Blair Witch haunts.

The treatment for their story will involve some of the original cast members Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, and Michael C. Williams but they will have much smaller roles.

“We’re at the step where we’re about to pitch to Lionsgate, which owns the movie rights now. It’s pretty much up to them. They can completely squash it or greenlight it.”

The Alchemist Finds Writers

The Weinstein Company has been rather quiet regarding the film adaption of Paulo Coelho’s treasure-seeking novel, The Alchemist, film adaption. Until Now.

It is reported that David Siegel and Scott McGehee are in charge of adapting Coelho’s novel into screenplay form.

Plot Synopsis: The story revolves around Santiago, an Andalusian sheperd boy who wishes to travel in search of an extravagant worldly treasure unlike any other. He journeys to the markets of Tangiers and across the deserts of Egypt and has an encounter with the alchemist. The treasures that Santiago finds along his way teaches us about listening to our hearts, understanding how to read omens that life puts in our path, and most importantly, following our dreams.

Ridley Scott Talks ALIEN Prequel

In an interview with Empire Ridley Scott revealed that a script is currently being drawn up for an ALIEN prequel by Job Spaihts. Scott did not reveal much but discussed, in broad terms, the film’s setting.

An excerpt from the interview is below………

“It’s a brand new box of tricks,” said Sir Ridley. “We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper. The prequel will be a while ago. It’s very difficult to put a year on Alien, but [for example] if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior.”

It was originally reported that Carl Rinsch was to direct this new ALIEN film but it seems that Ridley himself will be directing it himself (as reported by Variety)

SPIDERMAN 4 Villain Revealed?

The Market Saw Blog seems to be causing quite a stir considering they are confirming that the Lizard is going to be the villain of the fourth installment of the Spiderman series. Not only that but they are also claiming the Lizard is the ONLY villain in the movie.

It would make sense considering the film has put a bit more emphasis on Dylan Baker’s Dr. Connors character over the course of the series. However, when has Hollywood ever made sense.

Market saw has given no indication as to where this exclusive information has come from so take all of this with a grain of salt for now.

Robert Deniro and Jude Law to join the cast of “Thor”?

Could it be that Robert DeNiro and Jude Law have joined the cast of “Thor”?

In an interview with the German GQ magazine, actor Matthias Schweighofer eluded to the fact that both Robert De Niro and Jude Law are lined up for roles in “Thor”, however it is unclear at this time what roles they will be taking on.

“Thor” is being directed by Kenneth Branagh with Chris Hemsworth as the lead and Natalie Portman, Jamie Alexander and Colm Feore in supporting roles.

The movie is slated for a 2011 release by Paramount.
